The machine, numbered 193 882, was leased from European Locomotive Leasing (ELL) under a full-service agreement.
Entry into international electric traction
The Vectron unit represents Olavion’s shift towards cross-border electric traction. Until now, the company has focused on domestic rail freight services in Poland, using both leased and owned rolling stock. The new locomotive is equipped to operate under multiple electrification systems, enabling deployment across several Central and Eastern European countries.
While the delivery of 193 882 is the first of its kind for Olavion in this configuration, the company has previously leased locomotives from various providers. With this addition, Olavion enters the segment of interoperable electric rail operations that meet requirements beyond the Polish 3 kV DC system. For domestic services of mostly fuel tank trains, Olavion relies on growing fleet of Dragon six-axle locomotives.
Vectrons travel from Earth to Saturn
Vectron 193 882 is part of the Siemens Mobility-built Vectron MS platform and is approved for use across numerous European corridors. The unit is equipped with ETCS and national train control systems necessary for international services.
The locomotive has been painted in a dedicated promotional livery to highlight the cumulative distance covered by Vectrons worldwide reported as 1.2 billion kilometers. This figure roughly equals the distance from Earth to Saturn.
