Eight bidding groups representing 19 companies have applied to build a 14.3-kilometre section of Poland’s Warsaw–Łódź high-speed line.

Centralny Port Komunikacyjny will now assess the applications and invite up to five candidates to the competitive dialogue stage, based partly on their experience with railway infrastructure projects.

The contract covers the section between Airport Junction and Bolimów Junction, forming part of the future high-speed connection between Warsaw, the new airport and Łódź. The line will be designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h.

The applicants are Budimex, Mostostal Warszawa and six consortia led by Strabag, Torpol, ZUE, PORR, Gülermak and Intercor. In total, the applications involve 19 construction and railway companies.

The selected contractor will prepare detailed design documentation and deliver the 14.3-kilometre railway section. The scope also includes 55 road and railway bridges and viaducts, culverts, wildlife crossings and the construction or reconstruction of around 30 kilometres of roads.

A separate procurement is already under way for the section between Kotowice and Airport Junction. Preparations are also progressing for four remaining sections between Warszawa West and Łódź.

CPK has additionally launched procedures covering signalling, telecommunications and overhead electrification for the wider Warsaw–Łódź–Sieradz and Sieradz–Kępno–Bierutów routes.

The Warsaw–Łódź section of Poland’s planned Y-shaped high-speed network is scheduled to open in 2032, including rail access to the new airport. Extensions towards Poznań and Wrocław are planned three years later.
