The total financing secured by the company in the past 12 months reaches €205 million.

CargoBeamer has secured up to €65 million in equity and debt financing from Orion Infrastructure Capital (OIC), adding to €50 million from an existing shareholder and €90 million in grants from the German Federal Railway Authority and the Swiss Federal Office of Transport.

The funding is intended for the construction of two intermodal terminals in Kaldenkirchen, Germany, and Domodossola, Italy, which are scheduled to begin construction in 2025 with completion expected in 2026. These will be the second and third terminals operated by CargoBeamer, following the opening of the facility in Calais, France, in 2021.

CargoBeamer operates a system that enables the transfer of semi-trailers onto freight trains using automated handling technology. The company’s rail network connects logistics hubs across Germany, Italy, and France, offering an alternative to road transport.

The expansion comes as the European market for mid- and long-distance road transport is projected to reach an estimated €88 billion by 2032. CargoBeamer’s model integrates intermodal logistics with existing infrastructure, aiming to provide additional rail capacity for freight movements.
