A new batch of 20 passenger trains, have been delivered to Kenya’s Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). These trains, upon their arrival in Kenya, will be integrated into the current operations of the SGR, aiming to improve passenger transportation capacity and enhance connectivity within East Africa.
The procurement contract for these additional wagons, signed in September 2023, includes a range of car types: first-class, second-class, dining, power generation, and business-class cars, all specifically designed for the SGR.
CRRC, deeply involved in this project, has delivered 41 passenger trains since 2017. Additionally, the company established the first overseas 4S shop, providing round-the-clock train operation and maintenance services.
