The merger aims to improve coordination between rail and road transportation, ultimately boosting intermodal freight.

Terminali Italia, belonging to the Ferrovie dello Stato Group, which manages 14 intermodal terminals located throughout Italy, joins Polo Logistica.

The transaction involved transferring the entire share capital of Terminali Italia from Rete Ferroviaria Italiana to Mercitalia Logistics.

As a result, the parent company of Polo Logistica will become the sole shareholder of Terminali Italia. It will also assume the management and coordination of the subsidiary. The transfer of Terminali Italia to Polo Logistica will allow greater rail-road synergy, which is necessary to increase the share of intermodal freight transport, thanks to the integrated management of terminal services for the last mile.
