Rail4ward has introduced a bulk train service, starting with the transportation of rapeseed oil from Ústí nad Labem to Rotterdam in October 2023. Since the launch, the service has moved around 100,000 tons of goods, including grain, wheat, corn, rapeseed, vegetable oil, and biodiesel, using Rail4ward's own wagons.
The bulk train service is supported through partnerships with LTE logistics & transport, LTE Netherlands, and Wascosa.
There is a notable increase in the use of rail for bulk transport, driven by several factors. Trains can carry large volumes of bulk goods in one journey, making them a practical option for transporting commodities like grain, oil, and chemicals.
