This move follows the company’s current operation of six leased Vectron units.

CER Cargo Holding has ordered two Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility, scheduled for delivery in December 2026. The order signals an expansion of its owned traction portfolio for cross-border freight transport along the Danube corridor and within Eastern Europe.

The multi-system locomotives will be owned directly by CER Cargo, as opposed to the current leased fleet from Akiem. This change increases internal control over operations, particularly on international routes that require seamless transitions across different electrification systems.

The decision to invest in owned traction is in line with CER Cargo’s focus on interoperability and operational autonomy within its Central and Eastern European freight corridors. The company operates across several countries and uses a mix of leased and owned traction to manage services across EU and non-EU railway systems.
