Alstom’s Chorzów production facility has completed its first Coradia Max high-capacity regional train as part of a large-scale order for Baden-Württemberg. To meet specific requirements for regional transport in Baden-Württemberg, this four-car configuration includes two double-deck cars and two single-deck center cars, providing seating for 380 passengers.
Manufacturing for the Coradia Max is fully based at Alstom’s Chorzów site, which operates as part of the company’s global competence center for rail manufacturing and engineering. The order represents the Chorzów plant's largest undertaking in producing double-deck trains, and it is the first time this facility has completed such a project from start to finish. In addition to the work for Baden-Württemberg, the Silesian plant also produces components for similar trains destined for other regions in Germany.
Following initial testing, the trainset will return to Chorzów for additional stages of work, including interior fitting. Each unit in the Coradia Max series is built with passenger comfort in mind, featuring amenities such as air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, charging outlets, and dedicated spaces for luggage, prams, and bicycles. The design includes provisions for passengers with reduced mobility, aligning with current standards in accessibility.
The Coradia Max trains are capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h and incorporate a modular design, allowing operators to adapt configurations according to regional requirements. To date, over 500 units have been ordered across Europe, underscoring the model’s broad application in high-capacity, regional transport solutions across various networks.
