Koleje Dolnośląskie’s fleet will exceed 100 trains, solidifying its position as the largest operator of Elf trains in Poland.

Koleje Dolnośląskie (KD) has signed a contract with PESA Bydgoszcz for the delivery of ten new five-unit electric multiple units, with an option to purchase an additional ten units. This expansion will increase the fleet of yellow and white Elf trains from 25 to at least 35, with potential growth to 45 units.

The contract is valued at approximately EUR 98 million, with each train costing around EUR 9.8 million. The cost includes a six-year maintenance package provided by the manufacturer. Financing for this purchase was secured through a credit agreement with PKO Bank Polski, offering long repayment terms aligned with the 14-year depreciation period of the vehicles.

This new fleet will operate across all routes in Lower Silesia, with potential services extending to Opole via Oława and Brzeg. The introduction of these units will further modernize the region’s rail network, providing more efficient and comfortable travel options.

The first two units are scheduled for delivery in February 2026, with the final batch expected by June 2026. Should the option for additional units be exercised,
