DB InfraGO will restore through traffic between Hamburg and Berlin on 14 June after completing the main works on the corridor renovation.
The corridor is one of Germany’s most important intercity and freight routes. Freight capacity between Hamburg and Berlin has been restored, including on feeder lines. Trains between Hamburg and Hagenow Land/Schwerin resumed on 15 May.
Long-distance services will operate from 14 June, but journey times will be adjusted by several minutes until 30 June. Acceptance testing continues on signalling and interlocking systems between Hagenow Land and Berlin-Spandau, requiring temporary speed restrictions on parts of the route.
The restrictions affect long-distance services only. Local and regional trains will run according to the regular timetable from reopening.
The renovation began on 1 August 2025. DB InfraGO renewed 165 km of track, 249 switches, seven crossovers, 678 signals and 25 platforms. Station works were carried out at 28 locations.
Some station works will continue after reopening. Platforms at Müssen, Nauen, Falkensee and Albrechtshof will temporarily be unavailable or only partly accessible.
Passengers with reduced mobility at Nauen, Falkensee and Albrechtshof are being directed through DB’s Mobility Services Centre for accessible travel options.
