The collision happened at Meteren level crossing disrupts services, extensive repairs underway.

On 30 October 2025, a truck became stranded on a secured level crossing at Bredestraat in Meteren, leading to a collision with a passenger train shortly after 11:00. The incident caused injuries to five individuals and led to a full suspension of services on the line between Geldermalsen and ’s-Hertogenbosch.

The train, which was carrying approximately 400 passengers, derailed after striking the truck. A second train, travelling in the opposite direction, grazed the wreckage. Parts of the truck were scattered across the track and level crossing. Evacuation of passengers was completed by mid-afternoon, and the rerailing and removal of both trains followed.

Damage to the infrastructure has been described as extensive. Around one kilometre of track and a switch will be replaced. A complete reconstruction of the level crossing is also scheduled, including new barriers, lighting, and cast-in-place rails.

Preparatory work began over the weekend of 1–2 November. Deliveries include 2,000 metres of new rail, 600 sleepers, and a replacement switch. ProRail has stated that the complexity of the repair requires specialised equipment and personnel, who will be deployed during the first full week of November.
