Britta Weber has taken over as CEO of the Hupac Group, with a focus on customers, terminal capacity and restoring rail’s share of transalpine freight.

Weber began her new role with visits to Hupac’s headquarters in Chiasso and its terminal in Busto Arsizio, one of the company’s main hubs for north–south transalpine transport.

The Busto Arsizio site employs around 220 people and handles volumes equivalent to approximately 350,000 road consignments shifted to rail each year.

Weber said Hupac would aim to regain market share for rail after the modal shift lost momentum in recent years.

“Over the coming years, the aim is to regain market share and strengthen the modal shift in the long term,” she said.

Her initial programme will focus on customers and Hupac’s terminal network. This includes the Milano Smistamento terminal, which is currently under construction and is intended to add capacity and provide alternative routing options during disruptions.

“With the new terminal in the east of Milan, we are expanding our existing terminal network and creating additional resilience,” Weber said.

Before joining Hupac, Weber served as Vice-President of UPS Healthcare for Europe and Asia. Her previous roles covered international logistics, digitalisation and customer operations.

During the management transition, the company was led by Benedetta Masciari, Alessandro Valenti and Beni Kunz. Hupac’s Board of Directors thanked the three executives for overseeing the group during the interim period.
