The connection provides a scheduled alternative to road freight on the Balkan corridor.

WECO Rail has launched a new intermodal rail service linking the Graz region in Austria with the greater Belgrade area in Serbia.

The service is operated as a regular block train for containers and swap bodies, running via a continuous rail link between the two regions. At launch, one round trip per week is scheduled, with scope to increase frequency depending on demand.

The corridor aims at flows currently transported by road, where border crossings between the EU and Western Balkan countries can result in extended waiting times. By shifting volumes to rail, the service offers a more predictable cross-border transport option.

The new Graz–Belgrade link expands WECO Rail’s intermodal portfolio, which already connects Austrian economic centres with destinations in Poland and Germany, and now extends the network into Southeast Europe.
