Hyundai GLOVIS Europe has loaded its first dedicated GLOVIS wagon set and started rail operations in Europe, using wagons supplied by GATX Rail Europe, according to the company.
The wagons are provided by GATX Rail Europe as part of the initiative, with rail traction and operations handled in cooperation with ČD Cargo, as wagons are deployed on finished cars movements from Nošovice plant of Hyundai in Czechia. The company said the setup is designed to give Hyundai GLOVIS Europe greater control over rail capacity, service quality and cost structures compared with ad hoc third-party solutions.
The start of operations forms part of Hyundai GLOVIS Europe’s strategy to shift transport volumes from road to rail and to position rail as a core component of its European multimodal network. Alongside wagon availability, the programme includes the development of internal rail planning and management capabilities.
The initiative involves several partners across manufacturing, logistics and rail services, including Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech, Hyundai Motor Company, GATX Rail Europe, ČD Cargo, Adampol Slovakia, Hyundai GLOVIS Czech, Raillex and Infront Consulting & Management.
