The upgraded wagons are now available for deployment in infrastructure projects, supporting ballast handling operations with revised technical configurations.

The modification of 50 EX100B ballast hopper wagons for ERMEWA has been completed as part of a programme focusing on operational efficiency and workplace safety. The work was carried out by Novium, in collaboration with Les Ateliers de Joigny, incorporating several technical updates.

The wagons have been fitted with motorized drum systems, soundproofing, and a dust suppression system aimed at reducing emissions during ballast unloading. Additionally, lighting installations have been modernized, and a new remote-control system has been introduced to support operational needs.

The modifications follow the development of two prototype wagons in 2023. The updated fleet features an optimized design, and a water autonomy system adapted to the ballast unloading process. The project was completed in cooperation with MODULES INTEGRATION, which contributed to the implementation of a misting kit to further control dust emissions.
