Coca-Cola Germany and DB Cargo are once again collaborating to offer a special experience during the Advent season: the Christmas train stops at four German stations (Wiesbaden, Berlin, Regensburg, and Leipzig). Two real Christmas trucks have been lifted onto a single wagon and transported to the station by rail in a climate-friendly way.
The partnership between DB Cargo and Coca-Cola has been in place since 2016 and, like Deutsche Bahn and DB Cargo, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners aims to achieve carbon neutrality along its entire value chain by 2040. Coca-Cola's 14 production plants and other logistics sites in Germany use the shortest possible routes to supply their customers.
In some cases, however, long-distance transport is necessary. For example, if a product can only be bottled at one location, but is in demand nationwide. For such cases, DB Cargo and Coca-Cola have worked together in recent years to set up a rail freight network covering the whole of Germany. The nationwide rail freight network has been in place for some time and is the link between many of Coca-Cola's production and logistics sites. This has also led to the development of a logistically sensible round-trip concept for both full and empty bottles.
"Last year's cooperation with Coca-Cola was a great success. Christmas cheer and memorable moments are closely linked to our climate-friendly environmental network. We look forward to continuing this partnership," said Sigrid Evelyn Nikutta, Member of the Management Board for Freight Transport at Deutsche Bahn AG and Chairwoman of the Management Board of DB Cargo AG.
