The manufacturer eliminates the need for external storage of the basket, as in the Sdggmrss wagon, the basket is an integral part of the intermodal railcar.

Tatravagónka has launched its latest innovation, the Sdggmrss 6-axle articulated basket wagon. This wagon, equipped with integrated baskets, is suitable for both 1668 mm and 1435 mm track gauges, making it a versatile solution for various railway networks of Europe, including those on the Iberian Peninsula.

The Sdggmrss wagon stands out due to its capability to transport non-craneable semi-trailers without requiring special lifting devices. This feature addresses logistical challenges and cost concerns associated with the handling of such trailers. What makes this wagon unique and the first of its kind in Europe are the integrated baskets. This way Tatravagónka eliminated the need for rental, external storage and logistics of baskets, which are typically necessary for trailers transported using other wagon types, such as the T3000e.

Designed to accommodate up to 40 tons per trailer, the Sdggmrss offers a maximum loading gauge of type “e” for articulated wagons. This design ensures efficient and secure transportation of both craneable and non-craneable trailers, containers, and swap bodies – with and without transverse support. Additionally, the wagon features an optimized saddle and a proven kingpin safety concept, enhancing the overall safety of semi-trailer transport.

Tatravagónka has collaborated with leading intermodal transport companies in Europe to achieve TSI approval for the Sdggmrss wagon. This certification covers the entire concept, including the integrated baskets, ensuring compliance with stringent international standards.

Sdggmrss wagon will be introduced to the market by MFD Rail, a Swiss specialist in intermodal transport, at the turn of the year 2024/2025.

While the Sdggmrss is not a direct competitor to the T3000e for craneable trailer transport, it offers unparalleled advantages for non-craneable trailers, including integrated securing device for loading and unloading of non-craneable trailers. No wheel-securing blocks in the basked are necessary as semitrailer is secured by the means of a king pin. The wagon's clean concept simplifies the transport process, making it a competitive option in the market for various intermodal transport needs.

There are big plans for the product as it is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of intermodal freight transport across Europe.

With Sdggmrss wagon, designed to revolutionize the transportation of semi-trailers and intermodal freight across Europe, Tatravagónka answers to market gaps and contributes to the EU target of moving 30% of freight by rail by 2030.
