The initiative responds to increased demand for regional diesel rolling stock and was formally presented at the TRAKO 2025 trade fair in Gdańsk, where a 3-car Talent DMU was shown.

Alpha Trains and Public Transport Service (PTS) have signed an agreement to introduce 11 pre-owned Bombardier (now Alstom) Talent diesel multiple units to the Polish market.

The Talent vehicles are sourced from operations in Germany and will undergo refurbishment and homologation before entering service in Poland. Alpha Trains is positioning this as the first stage of a wider rollout that could include up to 50 Talent units and 28 Alstom Coradia Lint DMUs for leasing.

PTS previously completed a pilot project with Koleje Wielkopolskie, delivering a refurbished SA136-ATR-001 unit in July. According to PTS, the vehicle has achieved strong availability metrics since entering service.

The companies aim to complete the authorisation process and ready the first 11 units for operation within 18 months, contingent on demand and progress with certification. The display at TRAKO includes a standard German configuration of the Talent unit, which features full air conditioning and updated interiors.

The long-term goal of the cooperation is to establish a recurring process for modernising and introducing second-hand DMUs to the Polish market, starting with Talent and Lint 41 platforms.
