Operations began over the weekend from the restored Gettysburg & Harrisburg Railroad Depot, originally constructed in 1884.

Patriot Rail has introduced a new passenger rail operation between Gettysburg and Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania. The service, named the Gettysburg Excursion Railway, runs on a 25-kilometre route using refurbished Budd-built passenger cars from the 1950s.

The rolling stock has been upgraded for tourist service and includes a café car. The rides feature onboard audio narration and pass through rural areas adjacent to former Civil War battlefields and farmland in Adams County. The launch also included the distribution of commemorative coins to early passengers and merchandise sales from the depot building.

The excursion is the latest addition to Patriot Rail’s growing portfolio of tourist operations in the United States.
