Four out of the ten FLIRT trains ordered in 2019 have arrived in Azerbaijan and have successfully completed test runs.

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) has introduced new trains on the Baku-Agstafa-Baku route, following a contract with the Swiss company Stadler Rail.

To enhance passenger transport services, ADY has decided to add stops at Leki and Ujar stations. This change will benefit approximately 200,000 residents in these areas, offering them access to modern train services.

In response to passenger requests from the Western region, ADY is doubling the number of daily services on the Baku-Agstafa-Baku route. Trains will now operate in both directions, morning and evening, accommodating more passengers traveling to and from Baku.

Each new single-decker train has five carriages and can carry up to 270 passengers. They come equipped with advanced safety features and offer various seating classes: standard, standard plus, business, and first class. A bar-car salon is available on board, providing passengers with hot and cold refreshments.

Passenger transport services have seen growth, with approximately 3.3 million passengers transported in the first five months of this year, reflecting a 21% increase compared to the same period last year. The introduction of the new Stadler trains is expected to support further improvements in passenger transport.

In 2023, ADY transported 7 million passengers, more than double the pre-pandemic figures. The addition of the new trains is anticipated to sustain this upward trend and contribute to the development of Azerbaijan's railway services.
