Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) carried out 150 separate measures during the period, focusing on maintenance and upgrades along the 90-kilometre route.
A new avalanche protection gallery has been installed at Löcherwald, located between Wald and Dalaas. The 90-metre structure includes a digital monitoring system that tracks geotechnical activity in real time. Two mobile cranes were used to install beam and ceiling elements weighing up to 35 tonnes.
Track work was completed at several locations in Tyrol and Vorarlberg. ÖBB laid 21.7 kilometres of new rail, installed 16,500 sleepers, and applied 15,700 tonnes of ballast using mechanised track-laying equipment. The overhead contact line was also modernised on the section between Dalaas and Hintergasse. Additional work included 30 tunnel inspections and the replacement of 24 culverts.
At Schönwies station, four switches were replaced and the substructure was rebuilt. A passing loop was added to keep the station operational during future works. Construction at the station is expected to continue until 2027.
