Access to Lugo Terminal was regained in the morning of 23 September 2024, allowing teams to begin cleaning operations. However, the receding waters have left behind significant deposits of silt and mud, requiring additional cleanup efforts.
Urgent work is in progress to restore the terminal's connection to the electrical grid. The national railway line serving the area is expected to remain closed until September 30, 2024. Lugo Terminal is in constant communication with relevant authorities to expedite the restoration of services.
For those unfamiliar, Lugo Terminal is a key logistics hub in the Emilia-Romagna region, facilitating the movement of freight between northern and southern Italy. The terminal plays a crucial role in the national rail network, supporting both domestic and international cargo transport.
Updates will be provided as the situation develops. The terminal is committed to resuming normal operations as soon as possible.
