Nymwag has completed construction of a new freight-wagon plant in Kolkata, developed through a joint venture with Texmaco. Trial production starts in November 2025.

Czech freight-wagon manufacturer Nymwag has finished building its new production facility in Kolkata, developed together with Texmaco Rail & Engineering under the joint-venture company Texmaco Nymwag Rail and Components Private Limited. Construction began in March 2024 and was completed in October 2025.

The plant has an annual capacity of 2,500 wagons, with 8,300 m² of production space and four manufacturing lines. Key equipment includes ESAB cutting systems, Fronius welding technology and additional machinery supplied by Indian manufacturers such as cranes, fixtures, saws and press brakes.

Trial production will begin in November 2025, focusing on welded structures, subassemblies and training of newly hired staff. The joint venture plans to complete its first full wagon — an open type similar to the Eanos platform — in February 2026.

According to Nymwag CEO Petr Vlček, the decision to invest in India is driven by the country’s economic momentum and the strong long-term outlook for freight rail. India is seen as a rapidly expanding market with significant demand for modern rolling stock.
