The weakening market conditions, particularly in heavy industries such as forestry, are affecting the entire supply chain and impacting forecasts for freight transport.
Negotiations have begun concerning possible layoffs affecting approximately 550 rail yard workers in the freight division. These measures are being considered as a precautionary step to manage reduced demand, with layoffs varying by region depending on customer needs. The company aims to minimize the duration of these layoffs, with alternatives such as voluntary leave and adjustments to vacation schedules being explored to reduce the impact.
If necessary, layoffs are expected to last up to a maximum of 90 days per employee and will be implemented gradually, with completion planned by the end of March 2025.
