PESA’s new electric multiple unit for RegioJet has reached 200 km/h during testing at the VUZ Velim test centre in Czechia.

The test run marks an important step in the approval programme for RegioJet’s new PESA EMU 666 and 667 platform, which is being prepared for interregional services in Central Europe.

According to PESA Bydgoszcz, the vehicle reached 200 km/h for the first time during tests at the VUZ Velim test track. Further testing is now underway, with the first monitored passenger runs planned for December 2026.

“The traction tests were successful – the vehicle confirmed very good traction properties, including acceleration and driving stability at high speeds,” said Bartosz Białkiewicz, Director of the Homologation and Functional Safety Department of PESA Bydgoszcz.

The units are designed as multi-system electric trains, able to operate under both 3 kV DC and 25 kV AC power supply. This should allow them to support cross-border operation in the region.

The trains meet European TSI standards and are equipped with ETCS Level 2.
