In 2023, Nedmag tasked VTG for the modification of 35 hopper wagons to enable the efficient and dust-controlled transport of dolomite lime.
A flat slide module with pneumatic operation was integrated into the wagons to reduce dust emissions during unloading. Additional electric and pneumatic switches were added to optimize the loading and unloading processes, tailoring the wagons to the demands of dolomite lime transport.
Another technical requirement involved adjusting the wagons’ height. A 120-year-old tunnel along the transport route had a clearance too low for standard hopper wagons. VTG engineers resolved this by reducing the wagons' height to 4.2 meters, allowing safe passage while maintaining operational capacity.
The modified wagons are now in use, ensuring dolomite lime is transported efficiently and with reduced environmental impact.
