Swissterminal has outlined changes to its Schweizerzug intermodal service for 2025, focusing on expanded terminal access and updated pricing structures to address market conditions.
Expanded direct rail connections
The Schweizerzug train will offer three weekly direct connections to the K1700 and K1742 terminals in Antwerp. Starting in 2025, truck transfers will be included in the rail freight charges for all terminals on Antwerp's right bank, integrating additional last-mile solutions into the service. In Rotterdam, direct access will continue to the RWG and ECT Delta terminals, with the APM2 terminal added to the network in February 2025.
This adjustment aims to streamline transit times by eliminating intermediate transfer points for directly served terminals. For terminals not covered by direct rail connections, truck transfers remain fully integrated into the service's pricing structure.
Pricing adjustments amid increasing costs
Swissterminal has announced moderate adjustments to rail freight pricing for 2025, attributing these changes to rising track access fees in Germany and inflationary pressures in the Benelux region. Notably, export prices for Rotterdam will remain unchanged, with stable pricing intended to offer cost predictability for customers navigating evolving market conditions.
