The test, conducted on January 22 in Mannheim, Germany, aimed to assess the coupling system in operational conditions.

A DB Cargo locomotive equipped with an Alstom Traxx platform has undergone testing with Dellner’s Hybrid Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC) as part of the FP5-TRANS4M-R project under Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking.

The Hybrid DAC is designed to combine elements of traditional screw couplers with digital automation, providing an alternative for rail freight operators adapting to evolving technological standards. The Mannheim trials provided an opportunity for industry stakeholders, including operators, to evaluate the system’s functionality before it moves into production.
