The locomotive will be used in push-pull operation with the 65 Talgo trainsets already on order for Germany.

FlixTrain has presented its first Siemens Mobility Vectron locomotive for the new Talgo 230 trainsets scheduled to enter service from 2028.

The Vectron locomotives will provide traction for the Talgo 230 formations, which are designed for operation at up to 230 km/h. Each trainset consists of articulated coaches with a driving trailer at one end and a locomotive at the other.

FlixTrain displayed the locomotive in Munich, where the operator plans to integrate the Bavarian capital into its rail network from 2028. The locomotive carries the name “Bayern.”

The Talgo framework agreement for up to 65 trainsets was announced previously, with a total potential value of around EUR 2.4bn including maintenance. The Vectron locomotives form part of the traction package for the new long-distance fleet.
