DB is preparing intensively for the European Football Championship and is deploying around 20 per cent more security staff at stations and on trains.

Throughout Germany, almost 6.000 federal police officers and around 4.500 security personnel will be on duty around the clock to protect DB's rail customers and employees. For the European Football Championship, DB is increasing its pool of security guards at stations and on trains by around 900. The ten stations in the host cities and the trains to these venues will benefit in particular during the games. The security patrols will be recognisable by their uniform EM signal vests.

The Euro 2024 will be held in Germany from 14 June to 14 July. It will be hosted by 10 German cities, most of which also hosted the 1988 tournament won by the Dutch team of Marc van Basten and Ruud Gullitt. The final was played in Berlin's Olympiastadion, which will also be the final venue for this tournament. As well as Berlin, matches will be played in Leipzig, Dortmund, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne, Gelsenkirchen, Munich, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.

Over the course of the 51 matches, 2.7 million visitors are expected to attend the stadiums and a further 7 million fans are expected to watch the public broadcasts in the fan zones. This means that hundreds of thousands of people will be travelling by train. This is in addition to the tens of thousands of football fans who already use trains and stations every week during the football season.
