RAILPOOL has appointed Alexander Ketterl as Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Board, effective 1 June 2026.
Ketterl will oversee all operational aspects of the ECM-compliant management of RAILPOOL’s electric locomotive fleet and its maintenance facilities. His remit also includes Digitalization & Information Technology and the Project Management Office (PMO).
He brings more than 25 years of international management experience in the rail and mobility sector, with a focus on operations, transformation and performance management. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Kiepe Electric, a subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse AG, where he held responsibility for global operations, including profitability, efficiency programmes, portfolio management and restructuring.
Earlier, Ketterl led Bombardier Transportation’s global light rail business from Vienna and Berlin, with responsibility for development, quality, delivery performance and global supply chain structures. He also held senior roles at DB Cargo AG, overseeing maintenance and availability of large rolling stock fleets across Europe and managing transformation and efficiency programmes.
