Completing this transaction with Hitachi Rail was required by the European Commission about the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation.

Alstom announced that it has concluded the transfer of business activities related to Bombardier Transportation’s contribution to the V300 ZEFIRO very high-speed train to Hitachi Rail. The transaction is part of Alstom’s commitments to the European Commission about Alstom’s acquisition of Bombardier Transportation.

As RAILMARKET.com informed earlier, Alstom offered to European Commission these commitments:

  • the divestment of 1. Alstom's mainline Coradia Polyvalent platform
  • Alstom's production facility located in Reichshoffen in France,
  • Bombardier's mainline Talent 3 platform
  • part of Bombardier's production facility located in Hennigsdorf in Germany
  • the divestment of Bombardier's assets currently contributing to its joint very high-speed platform with Hitachi, the “Zefiro V300"
  • the supply of legacy OBUs and necessary interfacing information and support, in favour of signalling competitors

Alstom further declared that it will continue to honor its obligations under the existing orders for Rolling Stock from Trenitalia and ILSA to ensure a seamless transition.

Zefiro 300 has a top operating speed of 300 km/h but is designed for 400 km/h. 8-car set is fitted for use on all four European electrification schemes.
