DB is continuing its efforts to increase the number of commuters using the railways by offering cheap tickets. For the first time, the offer will also be available on off-peak weekdays.

In next two weeks, an additional 2 million saver fare tickets starting at €17.99 will be available. And for commuters travel on a Tuesday or Wednesday, is prepared an additional 20 per cent discount on all domestic Super Saver and saver fare tickets. For these less busy days, tickets for ICE and Intercity trains are available from just €14.39 – nationwide. With BahnCard 25 or 50, people will also receive the usual BahnCard discount of 25 per cent on this offer, enabling you to travel from as little as €10.79.

Stefanie Berk, Head of Marketing & Sales at DB Fernverkehr explains: ‘With this offer, we want to encourage even more people to leave their cars at home and try out the train. Travelling by ICE from just €14.39 not only protects the environment, but also saves money in the face of rising petrol prices. Thanks to our long pre-emption period, tickets can be booked at particularly favourable prices right now for travel during the school holidays until the timetable change in mid-December.’

For the first time, DB is offering a discount on journeys on certain weekdays. In doing so, DB not only wants to enable particularly affordable travel by climate-friendly rail, but also to create additional incentives to choose a less popular travel day. According to them, this will help to better distribute demand across the individual weekdays and achieve a more even utilisation.
