The operator renews contract in Bavaria and cooperates in reopening of line in Grand Est Region.

Transdev has renewed its contract with the Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft (BEG) to operate the Oberland network in Bavaria, Germany, continuing its service until at least December 2032. This extension covers three lines stretching 120 km from Munich to Lenggries, Tegernsee, and Bayrischzell, serving an average of 6.4 million passengers annually.

Having managed the Oberland network since 1998 under the BRB brand, Transdev's continued operation reflects the company's long-standing presence in the region. The renewed contract, set to begin in December 2026, involves 260 employees dedicated to maintaining the network's service frequency and reliability.

Transdev's role in Bavaria is part of a broader trend in Germany's regional rail services, which have seen significant growth since being opened to competition. Over 900 km of lines have been reinstated, contributing to a 33% increase in service and an 88% rise in passenger numbers. Transdev, as a leading private rail operator in Germany, also runs lines around Augsburg and Ingolstadt, and from Munich to Salzburg.

In addition to its regional operations, Transdev manages local rail lines and urban S-Bahn networks in Bremen and Hanover. In 2023, the company transported over 128 million passengers across its German rail networks.

Reopening of Nancy-Contrexéville Line

The consortium of NGE, Transdev, and Banque des Territoires has been awarded a contract to reopen the Nancy-Contrexéville line in France's Grand Est region. The line, closed since 2016, will be revitalized through a 22-year public service concession. This partnership, which includes a three-and-a-half-year construction phase, will see significant investment in track regeneration, signaling system updates, and safety improvements.

The project aims to enhance regional accessibility and is expected to create up to 300 jobs during the construction phase. The reopening, scheduled for December 2027, will offer 30 daily round trips, reducing travel time between Nancy and Contrexéville to one hour and 10 minutes.
